In the summer I crave seafood as it associates with lazy warm nights filled with laughter, smell of cocktails, and plain old good time. If you already heard all the hype about Catch- it’s all true. In fact, the hype doesn’t even do justice. It’s one of those places that you just want to go back to and savor the food and atmosphere. Located in a landmark building at the heart of Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, CATCH New York features seafood fusions combining great food, exceptional atmosphere and excellent service. Masterfully crafted dishes are exquisite yet not overwhelming – I never felt uptight like I sometimes do with certain menus. Its slick scene is known to attract celebrities and although, Catch may seem like another restaurant in a trendy neighborhood, it completely lives up to its reputation. If you are looking for a trendy and relaxed venue where you can experience high end dining, Catch is the place for you. Another perk is that most of the selections are family style – good for sharing. Cure your sweet tooth this summer at CATCH restaurant. Head in and enjoy their jaw dropping, happiness-inducing seafood fusion dishes as you take in the city’s best panoramic views on the rooftop.
I started with miso eggplant skewers, a light appetizer cooked to perfection and balanced with salty fermented umami- eggplant is notoriously tricky to get right. Do order crunchy rice cakes served with tuna tartare and wasabi tobiko as tuna’s velvety texture creates a wonderful contrast with deep fried oblong rice base finished off with a kick from spicy tobiko.
Savory lobster mac & cheese served with mascarpone, breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese, is a perfect choice for those who love comfort food classics. It’s not as creamy as you expect (I prefer drier texture) but the richness of lobster flavor does the trick.
For pizza lovers there is S’Mores Pizza….wait, it’s pizza, it’s dessert, it’s BOTH! A savory flat pizza dough sprinkled with graham cracker crumbs, covered in milk and dark chocolate chunks, and topped with roasted homemade marshmallows will be enough to leave you satisfied forever. Well, almost forever.
To finish off the night consider sharing the famous #HITME cake. So much fun and delicious chocolaty goodness is then ladled with hot chocolate sauce. It’s four-levels of a brownie, cake, ice cream, and liquid Klondike bar. As you watch the chocolate sauce drip to the #HITME logo you are encouraged to use your spoon like a hammer and break into the “Liquid Klondike” which causes a vanilla chocolate eruption. Instagram worthy snap!
These dishes aren’t just memorable; they are worth the calorie splurge!
Whatever you choose off the menu, your taste buds will thank you.
Although, I did mention earlier that the dishes here are good for sharing, I take it back. Apparently Mariah Carey never shares her fave truffle sashimi so why should I?
Just a fair warning….
