From adventurous suits to elevated separates, your guide to staying hot this winter.
Winter is a season of maximizing style. From fur collars to luxe knitwear and everything in between, as temperatures drop, designers are always on the lookout for ways to reinvent the proverbial wheel and this season, they’ve succeeded. Look no further than Brad Beyer, one of Hollywood’s hottest actors, and model Lucas Blom, showing you how to wear the season’s hottest trends.
Beyer, known for his work in Legendary Pictures’ baseball biopic drama 42, the CBS series Jericho, HBO’s Vice Principals and Showtime’s Shameless, translates runway trends into every day, wearable fashion. Next to be seen opposite Miles Teller as Doster in Thank You for Your Service from director Jason Hall, Brad’s other roles include the comedies Mr. Woodcock and Sorority Boys; the indie favorite, Trick; The General’s Daughter and Antonio Banderas’ feature directorial debut, Crazy in Alabama.
Who doesn’t love a contrast collar? Whether you prefer the Russian general look or a classic bomber, there are plenty of patterned, fur and shearling collars to choose from this season. Winter also brings the return of the not-so-basic sweater, crafted from luxe cashmere-wool blends for an elevated, edgy look. A perfect low-key pairing underneath a blazer or sport coat, consider it your new BFF.
Let’s not forget the beloved turtleneck is back in full swing with more variations than ever before, such as the roll neck paired with relaxed tailoring. While you don’t have to ditch your slim trousers just yet, a pair of wider cut pants certainly come in handy for a more slouchy, unstructured look. Oversized proportions are everywhere, from tees to sweaters and outerwear – you name it. The trick to making it work is a healthy mix of one oversized piece with something more fitted.
The ’80s and ’90s have an outsized influence on winter fashion, whether it’s grunge, new wave, classic hip-hop, or color-blocking, prepare to see even more nostalgia this season. For the truly brave, we urge you to try adventurous suiting – colors, cuts and patterns – anything unusual to breathe fresh air into a season that is so often predictable. Go ahead, mix it up with tees and sneakers, there are no rules.
