The 80’s revolution is back, inspired by fashion and dance music. New wave and pop have made a comeback, and the throwback vibes can be found anywhere, from listening to Madonna on the radio to watching Rob Lowe and Leo (DiCaprio, obviously) on screen. Channel the decade with high-volume glamour by wearing bright makeup, crop-tops, shoulder pads, and bold, bright stripes and flower prints. It’s Saturday Night Fever all over again – lame drama has officially renewed its cool, and here we are in Spring 2017 giving it all an edgy, modern spin.
Summed up, here are the best spring looks to wear this season:
For asymmetrical wrap-dresses, bra tops and sport-inspired pants, look for Fenty by Puma (Rihanna’s collaboration with the brand). Go for shoulders reminiscent of your favorite 80’s dance flick, graphic prints, stripes of all kinds, lots of reds and blues, off-the-shoulder numbers, ruffles, tropical prints, and cutouts in the most unexpected places.
Romanticism and the Oxford shirt are back with a vengeance; wear it to work, play in it (or with it), mix and match, wear with shorts, heels, sneakers, or ballet shoes. Look no further than Sandy Liang, made in New York, for the perfect piece. Heading somewhere fabulous? Vacation staples are off-the-shoulder, stripes-on-stripes long dresses by Gul Hurgel. Tropical florals look fresh and feminine, blooming up and down long tiered skirts; rompers, jumpsuits and voluminous sleeves are in this season.
Go for dramatic ruffles in sunshine yellow by Rebecca Vallance. Try effortless wrap dresses or a breezy baby-doll number by Isabel Marant. The shirt-dress is redefined by Jacquemus, confident with exaggerated shoulders, the staple for this spring season. Graphic prints are everywhere, especially on tees by Miu Miu and Comme des Garcones Play. Reveal your inner goddess in a shiny bronze midi dress with a touch of drama, created by none other than the legendary Vivienne Westwood.
A classic, striped shirt with slashed shoulders displays character, especially in the corporate world of executives. Wear it with a wide-leg pant to the office, or over the weekend with jeans. Turn heads by wearing a long, sexy wrap-skirt with a cropped top, displaying a healthy dose of skin (in homage to St. Barths).
Spring is when nature bursts back into life, exploding with color and the beautiful fragrance of flowers. It’s the season when everything is changing and promising new life and new hope. It’s a festive season, so get out and celebrate! A new season means a new you. It’s the perfect time to go for a new hairstyle, try a new lip color, or experiment with the hottest makeup, hair, and fashion trends.
Passion and fashion go hand in hand, so feel free to explore the sweet glory of spring by being romantic, chilling out in the city parks, French-kissing in public, dancing the night away, strapping on a sexy dress, and just going for adventure. There’s only one life to live, so you might as well enjoy it.
