In the past week, In Ukraine, 38th annual Ukrainian Fashion Week took place, vividly displaying talented Ukrainian designers presenting their collections.
Art Arsenal hosted seven days of fashion events: 56 shows, 16 presentations and thousands of visitors from around the world. Today, we can safely say that the Ukrainian fashion industry is changing to totaly new international level, building its own unique history.
Poustovit brand presented it’s fall-winter 2016 collections, reviving the grunge, gorgeous translucent dresses and tops combined with warm sweaters and bulky jackets, complemented by Cossacks inspired boots. Despite this rebellious style, the collection does not project any protest or aggression. It actually represents change that people can bring into the world. Models walking in Poustovit designs looked very young, bold, energeticand at the same time, gentle and feminine.
The prototype of this collection is modernity, freedom and emotional metropolis. The main emphasis designer expressed were intence, refined colors: flaming red, dark blue, and azure. The collection emphasized almost architectural forms in tailored coats and dresses. Volumes of fringe and animalistic motives have expressed lightness and serenity.
The Coat by Katya Silchenko
Kate Silchenko was inspired by Ukrainian artist Sonia Delaunay, who in the early twentieth century, lived and worked in France. The collection consisted of skirts and dresses, long knit scarves and accessories made in bright, saturated colors, decorated with geometric elements, characterizing the work of Delaunay. Symbolic for this brand is a – coat, and this season the coat is decorated with multi-colored fur and feathers.
Transience of time, volatility and value – is the theme of Reva’s collection. Tailored suits, skirts, rectangular shapes, light blouses, dresses in velvet – are the prototypes of timeless elegance and are relevant, not only in the next season but in the season’s t come. Particular emphasis is on prints, created in collaboration with illustrator – Dean Ukrainian Linnik.
Designer brand, Bevza tells the story of people, who are tired of the constant search for self and social conditions, which cause pressure to the experience of past generations. Kiev’s distressed porches and garages within the past years formed the basis of photographic prints that adorned pieces of the collection: skirts, dresses, jackets and coats. Heroine of the collection is the «Heritage» – a symbol of new femininity, fragility and masculinity, all at the same time.
