With life’s never ending demands, it is difficult to carve out time to discover just what makes each of us unique. Fortunately, Soulful Awakenings has created a space for people from around the globe to come and embrace their inner light! Soulful Awakenings is a spiritual community that is dedicated to embracing transitions, channeling the love from within and learning to be mindful amidst the chaos. Soulful Awakenings offers its visitors an expansive series of classes such as, yoga, chakra bowl meditations and Quigong. Donna Sica, owner of Soulful Awakenings, began her spiritual journey 33 years ago practicing the law of attraction. Since then, Donna’s journey has evolved to include practices such as, reconnection, channeling and chakra crystal bowls. InLove connected with Donna to gain more insight into what makes her growing community so captivating!
InLove: Can you share with us your first realization into the spiritual realm and what the experience taught you about yourself and the world around you?
Donna: My first experience was at the age of 25. I was introduced to this delightful couple, Elgin and Renee Chiompi, who were teaching “The Law Of Attraction” thirty-five years ago. Once a week, for two years, I drove two hours, and participated in a two hour session. The couple lovingly coached me on how my thoughts and vibrational output created my reality. I have been excavating my beliefs and reframing my thoughts and feelings since then, layer by layer, experience by experience. I know that this is a continual process because we are infinite beings. There is no ending, just continuous expansion.
InLove: Intuition is an important piece of channeling one’s inner light and realizing one’s journey in life. For those who are struggling with becoming more in tune with the self, what advice would you give?
Donna: I believe in the “spiritual smorgasbord,” which contains tools like yoga, meditation, energy work (crystal bowls, reiki), books, and seminars. Set your intention of inner light and become a sponge to all of the resources that are available to you. When you, the student, are ready the teacher will appear and you will innately choose the modality that is calling to you to expand your journey. Your inner light is already within-allow it to shine through.
InLove: You’ve been practicing various aspects of spiritual awakening for over a decade. When did you decide that you were ready to begin sharing your knowledge and wisdom with others?
Donna: I began the first steps in my spiritual awakening at 25 and have throughout my lifetime shared my experiences with friends and family. At the age of 48, after the passing of my first husband, with my children away at college, a new partner, and a relocation to New Jersey-Soulful Awakenings was born. We received funding and I was guided, intuitively to a brick and mortar. Since then a beautiful community of seekers has emerged.
InLove: During your personal journey of awakening, did you ever have moments of doubt? If so, how did you continue to maintain faith?
Donna: This is a practice. It takes time to trust yourself and the world around you. I believe that every experience is just an experience. Not good or bad, right or wrong and through what we have attracted, we have the choice to sink or swim. I choose to swim, learn, explore, reframe and redefine my reality daily.
InLove: Since the start of your teaching practice, in what ways have you adapted and grown? Are there differences in the ways you create a loving and open space now as opposed to before?
Donna: When students come through the doors of Soulful Awakenings, I lovingly welcome them. Many feel broken by life and Soulful Awakenings offers them a safe place to heal and grow. My teaching is not about me. It is about sharing information. I always lead with “Free Will.” I give the student permission to “choose” what resonates with them. If a student, leaves with one “aha” or one nuance that can create a space of peace, joy, and love within-I have completed my service to them.
InLove: I imagine that stepping into a room with multiple energies and life paths can be overwhelming. In what ways do you decompress after a meditation session?
Donna: I do not let the energies of others affect me. I see all for who they are, light and love. I look beyond the human meat suit and allow individual souls to shine through. Fortunately, the vibrational frequencies of the bowls, clear the space of all the energies fields in the room. However, I do believe that every teacher needs time to recharge. Personally, meditation, yoga, and walking on the beach recharge my vibrational field.
InLove: The spiritual community is continuously growing and has been used as a way to ease issues related to mental health. Do you see a connection between your own spiritual practice and mental health?
Donna: Each of us come to this lifetime with lessons to be learned. Each of us must follow our path and along the way, our healing comes from the willingness to excavate that which no longer serves us. We have many individuals who come through our doors and find solace in what we offer. Our mental health is directly related to our willingness to love ourselves. Woundedness creates a personal disconnect from the source. It kinks the hose of the free flowing energy of “love and the feeling of being whole.” We are all enough and have always been. Our experiences in life and our relationship to those experiences either bridge us to a deeper understanding of that love or sometimes break the bridge to love. It is our responsibility to build our bridge with a deep foundation of love.
InLove: Three times a week you host a gathering on the Jersey Shore. During the gatherings, what do you hope to provide to the guests?
Donna: Soulful Awakenings provides a safe place, allowing for one to choose from many offerings and modalities that will help them discover self love through authentic intention. We have a welcoming community, where like-minded people gather and create a support system of friendship. We are having our first wedding on 11/11/17 for a couple that met at Soulful Awakenings. This is what we offer here – the belief in limitless possibilities. My heart sings with joy for all the personal growth and manifestations I have been privy to. In this expansion, all that walk through the door create a beacon of light.
InLove: What does being in love mean to you and your practice?
Being in love means being free from fear.
Remembering, myself, as a gift of the Universe.
Love is the highest vibration in the Universe.
It is who we are, when we remember.
