Editor’s Letter:winter Decadence Issue #18

Winter is here again. It’s an amazing time of the year to snuggle up in a blanket, cozy up with some smoking mulled wine and watch our favorite TV show. It’s the season to appreciate the joy that permeates our beings when celebrating the holidays. Reflecting on past holiday memories and the sweet moments shared amongst family and friends, is a highlight for the season. New Year’s celebrations and a promise of innumerable new possibilities are finally here. Gratitude is what makes us the happiest as we indulge in the glorious winter fashion, the warmth of a bonfire, good friends and laughter.

“When you do things from your soul, the river itself moves through you. Freshness and a deep joy are signs of the current.” ― Rumi.

Art, film, music, fashion and philanthropy, are cries of the human spirit trying to understand itself and make sense of the world. On the cover: sweet, charming and very pretty, Peyton List from Disney’s, Jessie to Bunk’d, Peyton has been charming her way into our living rooms for years. Her story begins like a fairy tale–getting discovered by an agent in New York on the Staten Island Ferry. These days, among other things, you can catch her as a recurring guest star on CBS’ Happy Together, where she plays Sierra – the larger-than-life love interest of Cooper James. She’s also seen in Hulu’s occult fiction thriller, Light as a Feather.

Let’s Get Loud! making visible what never has been seen. MUSIC is the language of the spirit. Where words fail, music speaks. Music is a highlight for this Holiday issue. Music is love and I am in love with the Broadway production, Once on This Island, winner of Olivier Award in Best Musical and Tony Award in Best Revival of a Musical. I am in love with the Cuban music by Proud Yuma, it is an art form that ignites passion in the heart of everyone who loves to dance. Also, in this remarkable Holiday issue is Jack & Jack, the duo with their hit single Beg, which broke them into the Top 40, and officially catapulted them into a superstardom.

Success is not how high you have climbed, but how you make a positive difference to the world. These young Hollywood talents are all taking the world by storm, loving what they do, and giving back to empower other millennials. Peyton List, Jack & Jack, Tessa Brooks, Froy Gutierrez, Natalie Alyn Lynd, Lydia Hearst and Amy Shiels are great examples. Check out our amazingly creative Fashion Stories with some of these gorgeous muses.

Nothing brings people together like good food does, especially during the Holidays. As Oscar Wilde said, “After a good dinner, one can forgive anybody, even one’s own relatives.”
The seductive palette of mid-century Mexico City brought to you by Chef Justin Bazdarich of Oxomoco in Brooklyn – is a must. Creative, exquisite and beautifully crafted dishes and drinks at Norma’s in Palm Springs, are as refreshing, delicious and stunningly presented. The entire ambiance just makes you happy, as much as traveling to the exquisite destination with INLOVE.

Attitude is a choice. Happiness is a choice. Optimism is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Whatever choice we make, it makes us. We, at INLOVE choose to love and give to the children-orphans in Ukraine through Sublimitas (501(c)(3). Sublimitas develops and implements research-informed, locally relevant programs that provide educational services to socio-economically disadvantaged children and youth internationally. With every issue we support the charity.

The source of all true art is gratitude. It’s the hallmark for the art of giving. “When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.” Very clever and brilliant words by Paulo Coehlo. I cannot agree more.

With all my heart, I wish all of you a Happy New Year, a year full of passion, purpose, magic and miracles!
