Another sizzling and lively film will arrive on Broadway this upcoming July with a few musical modern twists. Carmen Pavlovic has announced that Moulin Rouge! The Musical will be shown at Al Hirschfeld Theatre. “We are thrilled to be bringing Moulin Rouge! The Musical to Broadway. We are especially delighted that the show is going to the Hirschfeld – the perfect theater for this production with its lavish architecture and rich history of landmark Broadway shows.” Pavlovic (Global Creatures) is the lead producer with Bill Damaschke as the executive producer. The authentic Karen Olivo (Tony Award® for West Side Story, In the Heights), dreamy-faced Aaron Tveit (Catch Me If You Can, Next to Normal) and heavy-hitter Danny Burstein (six-time Tony Award® nominee, Fiddler On the Roof, Cabaret) head the cast of the stage adaptation.

Fans of the 2001 Twentieth Century Fox motion picture by Baz Luhrmann are in for a treat! After raving reviews from the pre-Broadway show in Boston, people were able to purchase exclusive pre-sale Broadway tickets on November 21, 2018.

Tony Award® winner Derek McLane leads the scenic design of the slick, shimmering and bedazzling Moulin Rouge! The Musical sets. The stage emulates the movie’s aesthetic perfectly. Nevertheless, to see the bold color combinations and Burlesque pizzazz lights live is indescribable. The bodacious reds and intoxicating low oranges complementing lace on legs that can-can with flare is a must-see. The choreography by Sonya Tayeh (Lucille Lortel Award and Obie Award for Kung Fu, and Emmy winner) is a potpourri of various dance styles. The historical can-can, jazz and contemporary forms may even cause a few audience members to shimmy in their own seats.

WE ARE THRILLED TO BE BRINGING MOULIN ROUGE! THE MUSICAL TO BROADWAY. WE ARE ESPECIALLY DELIGHTED THAT THE SHOW IS GOING TO THE HIRSCHFELD – THE PERFECT THEATER FOR THIS PRODUCTION WITH ITS LAVISH ARCHITECTURE AND RICH HISTORY OF LANDMARK BROADWAY SHOWS.”

The glamorously romantic and gritty tale is set in Montmartre Quarter of Paris, France, during the Belle Époque (the golden age before WWI) at the turn of the 20th century. Christian (Aaron Tveit) is a young composer who ends up falling in love with cabaret actress, Satine (Karen Olivo), who is the star of the Moulin Rouge. Adjacent to the movie, the musical’s score weaves together original songs with popular tunes. The romantic tune “Come My Way,” sung by Aaron Tveit with his crisp and soothing vocals, is currently being promoted to give Moulin Rouge! The Musical more exposure. Justin Levine (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), the music supervisor, should also be acknowledged for his unique blend of honoring Moulin Rouge’s signature tunes as well as adding more recent hits. You may even hear some of your favorite songs while watching this glitzy show: Hits from Lady Gaga, Florence and the Machine, OutKast, Lorde, Sia, Beyoncé, Pink, Britney Spears, and Adele sway throughout the performance.

This sparkly, gritty and beautiful spectacular will definitely have you entertained.
