Chef-Owner, Erhan Gezer, a culinary master who brings a soulful dining experience through his exceptional culinary expertise. Chef Erhan Gezer’s journey is a testament to his unwavering pursuit of excellence in the culinary arts.
Chef Erhan, a culinary mastermind, initially honed his skills at a prestigious Cyprus hotel. However, his foundational culinary education took place in his uncle’s food plant in Osmaniye, Turkey. There, he gained valuable experience managing the preparation of thousands of meals daily, with a special focus on crafting exquisite meze dishes. His creative talent earned him the prestigious “Chef of the Year” award in Istanbul in 2011, particularly for his skillful Sea Bass Presentation (Rapunzel).
Upon relocating to the United States, Chef Gezer worked diligently to save money while enhancing his English proficiency through language courses. Eventually, he took ownership of Istanbul Café, a restaurant situated in a culturally diverse community in Fair Lawn, where Mediterranean flavors were already beloved.
Chef Gezer explains, “My choice was influenced by the community’s existing appreciation for Mediterranean cuisine.”
Under Chef Gezer’s guidance, ADA Mediterranean Brasserie experienced remarkable growth, increasing its clientele sevenfold. His culinary expertise shines through in every dish, characterized by meticulous attention to detail and a profound understanding of how ingredients can harmoniously combine to create an unforgettable dining experience.
One of Chef Gezer’s standout creations is the Adana Special, a culinary masterpiece that has become a signature offering at ADA. This dish, like all of his creations, reflects his dedication to perfecting the art of mezes and his commitment to providing patrons with an extraordinary culinary experience.
Even in the face of the challenges brought about by the global pandemic, ADA Mediterranean Brasserie continued to thrive, thanks to innovative delivery and takeout services. When asked about the possibility of selling ADA, Chef Gezer emphatically states, “ADA restaurant is my first love,” underscoring his deep passion for his culinary establishment.
But Chef Erhan Gezer’s journey doesn’t end with ADA. In September 2022, he expanded his culinary horizons by becoming a founder and partner of Azure The Greek in Morristown, New Jersey. His unwavering commitment to sharing his culinary artistry with the world remains undiminished, and his journey is far from over.
