Armani Greer Interview: From Independent Film to Netflix

INLOVE: Congratulations on joining Why Did I Get Married Again? What was your first reaction when you learned you would become part of such an iconic franchise?

Armani Greer: Excitement! I was absolutely ecstatic, but I didn’t tell anyone. The official announcement came about a month later. We filmed in Italy, and my mom thought I was simply going on vacation with friends. I wanted to keep the news to myself for a little while and truly soak in the excitement before the congratulatory phone calls started rolling in.

Armani Greer on Playing Jasmine in Why Did I Get Married Again?

INLOVE: Jasmine brings a new generation into this beloved story. What excited you most about bringing her to life?

Armani Greer: The children were briefly introduced in the previous film when they were much younger, so getting to show them years later has been incredibly fun. Fans of this franchise have fallen in love with these couples, and now I have the opportunity to give one of their children a voice. That was the most exciting part for me. Jasmine wants a marriage that reflects the relationship she believes her parents have, and it was meaningful to explore her journey as she navigates those expectations.

Working With Tyler Perry and an Acclaimed Ensemble Cast

INLOVE: Working alongside Tyler Perry and an extraordinary ensemble cast is a dream for many actors. What did you learn from sharing the screen with such accomplished performers?

Armani Greer: Working with this cast was a beautiful and unforgettable experience. I watched everyone bring a piece of themselves to their characters, and I saw these incredible veterans advocate for their roles to ensure the story truly resonated with audiences. That taught me the importance of speaking up for my own characters. I also had the privilege of watching Tyler Perry wear so many hats. He’s a true businessman, balancing the roles of director, actor, and producer all at once. Watching him work was nothing short of a masterclass.

INLOVE: Your career beautifully balances independent films and major studio productions. How do you approach each project while staying true to yourself as an artist?

Armani Greer: Every project requires a certain level of vulnerability. I always ask myself, “Whose story am I telling?” Once I identify the person I’m giving a voice to, I can always find something in my own life that echoes that desire to be heard. That’s how I stay true to myself. For me, acting is about creating an honest connection and honoring the experiences of the characters I portray. Approaching every role with empathy and authenticity allows me to tell stories that feel real, meaningful, and that continue to resonate with audiences long after the credits roll.

From Independent Film to the American Black Film Festival

In this Armani Greer Interview, the actress reflects on how independent filmmaking helped shape the vulnerability and authenticity she now brings to larger productions.

INLOVE: Last Hoorah at G-Baby’s received recognition at major film festivals. What did that experience mean to you personally and professionally?

Armani Greer: That was such a fun project. Last Hoorah at G-Baby’s came to me just after the industry emerged from the strike, and the story mirrored so much of what I was experiencing in my own life. It required me to show up in ways that felt deeply uncomfortable and emotionally transparent. Receiving recognition at major film festivals felt like a reassuring wink from life itself, affirming both my personal journey and my professional path.

From Theater to Film and Television

Armani Greer on Family, Hollywood and Staying Grounded

INLOVE: You began your career in theater before transitioning into film and television. How has your stage background shaped your performances on screen?

Armani Greer: Theater and film are similar in many ways, but they’re also very different. Theater teaches you how to read the room because you immediately know what works and what doesn’t through the audience’s response. Whether it’s theater, television, or film, they all require honesty, hard work, and the willingness to surrender to the moment. My theater background prepared me for the emotional truth that television and film demand from an actor.

INLOVE: Every role asks something different of an actor. Which character has challenged you the most, and what did you discover about yourself through that experience?

Armani Greer: Jasmine in Why Did I Get Married Again? has challenged me the most because she’s navigating so much. She’s dealing with the complexities of her own relationship while trying to live up to the example she believes her parents have set. Jasmine actually taught me, Armani, that what works for me may not work for everyone else—and that’s okay. Breaking generational cycles requires something different, and through her, I realized I’m equipped to handle that and so much more.

INLOVE: Hollywood can be both exciting and demanding. What keeps you grounded as your career continues to reach new heights?

Armani Greer: My family and my hobbies. My favorite title is “Aunt.” My nieces and nephews keep my feet firmly on the ground, and watching their personalities and perspectives develop is one of life’s greatest joys. When I’m not working, I’m spending time with them or enjoying hobbies like cooking, horseback riding, reading fiction, or finding creative ways to refresh my home with a new coat of paint or a redesign. I also love spending time with friends. Community and hobbies are so important in this business.

What’s Next for Armani Greer?

As the Armani Greer Interview turns toward the future, Greer reveals an artistic vision that reaches beyond any single genre, from period pieces to mythology and collaborations with filmmakers she admires.

INLOVE: Looking ahead, are there filmmakers, actors, or stories you dream of collaborating with or bringing to life?

Armani Greer: Absolutely. I have a long list of stories I hope to tell and people I’d love to work with. Period pieces have a special place in my heart, so being part of one would be a dream come true. I’d also love to tell the story of Medusa. Her story isn’t discussed as often as many other figures in mythology, yet I believe it’s incredibly powerful. She represents strength and gives a voice to a specific group of victims. I’d also love to collaborate with writer-director Misha Green because she consistently challenges and elevates storytelling. And if I could choose one actor to work alongside, it would be Glynn Turman. He’s a legend in my eyes.

Armani Greer Interview

INLOVE: If audiences could walk away remembering just one thing about Armani Greer—not only as an actress but as a woman—what would you hope that would be?

Armani Greer: I hope people remember that I’m still finding my way every single day. I’m figuring life out just like everyone else. I don’t have all the answers, and I don’t pretend to. What I do have is a genuine appreciation for the journey, the lessons, and the growth that come with it. If my work or my story encourages someone to embrace exactly where they are in their own journey, even if they don’t have everything figured out yet, then I’d be incredibly grateful.

What Being in Love Means to Armani Greer

INLOVE’s signature question: What does it mean to you to be in love?

Armani Greer: I believe being in love means voluntarily choosing the responsibility of caring for someone else. It’s wanting to protect their heart, care for their well-being, and show up for them in ways both big and small. To me, love isn’t just about how you feel—it’s about how you act. It’s about being intentional, consistent, and making the choice every day to support the person you love. I don’t think you can truly say you’re in love with someone if you’re not willing to do that.
